Tre piani by Nanni Moretti – Official Compétition

20 years after the Palme d’Or for La chambre du fils, Moretti brings a non-original subject to the Festival.

Riccardo Scamarcio, Margherita Buy and Alba Rohrwacher: 3 families, 1 building of 3 levels and 3 levels of madness …

And the next Palme d’or !

La femme du fossoyeur de Khadar Ayderus Ahmed – Semaine de la Critique

The director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed, visibly moved before the screening at the Espace Miramar, the main actor and actress and the Orange Studios producer, present “La femme du gravedigger” (The gravedigger’s wife) in competition at the Critics’ Week.

A simple, powerful store of urban and rural Somalia, powerfully portrayed by the director and actors.

We find the team in the theater after the screening, applauded for a long time.

Cannes 2021: here we are

And here we are …

But who had the idea of a Cannes Film Festival in the middle of July?

I guarantee you that “la montée des marches” at 7 p.m. in a tuxedo with almost 30 degrees is a somewhat difficult exercise!

Otherwise, a rather empty Cannes, with not full rooms (you will have noticed it on Canal + during the broadcast of the opening ceremony …)

The opening film was the musical “Annette” by Leos Carax with Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver: I will talk about it in a dedicated post.

As always, count on me for news from Cannes in 2021 too.

P.S.: yes, I saw Mylène Farmer … I don’t know why, but every French person I talk to immediately ask me that …

Cannes 2021

After the cancellation of the 2020 edition, this year we will have a brand new Cannes Film Festival!

Running in the summer period from July 6 to 17 rather than May this year, everything goes through electronic ticketing, so no more long queues without knowing if you’re eventually getting in, no more exchanging of invitations that become personal, no more clowns (I am one, so I allow myself …) who beg for invitations in front of the Palais entrance and – above all – the guarantee of getting to your screening as long as you have a ticket!

All good news!
